How to open Windows DUMP .DMP files.

It’s been true since the beginning, the Windows Event Viewer is essentially useless to the average everyday Tech Support employee. Even Ids, Sources, and codes of Hexadecimal errors tell most non-Microsoft programming users, absolutely nothing, although EventID.net, can be very helpful.

This is where a underground hidden Microsoft application comes to the rescue for opening the mysterious DMP(Dump) files created during the still present BSOD(Blue Screen of Death) and located in “c:\windows\minidump”. The application is called “Debugging Tools for Windows”.

Once installed, go to FILE>OPEN CRASH DUMP

    Thank you very much! (Hopefully I got it right now…)

    I kind of just magically opened the debbuger and noticed the file menu looked like this lol so then I did the opening from there

    I was trying to find the file > by right clicking on the .DMP file hahaha so then I chose the closest .exe that sounded like something that would work in the debugger folder which ended up being the right one lol
