Lunarpages NO…HostGator YES

I was fed up, after taking the day off today from work, to dedicate myself to my blog, I went to access the site and once again I couldn’t. I was however able to access the site from my cell phone and through proxy servers, so the server wasn’t completely dead, but one of the routers in between was. So, I was however happy to get a quick response when I asked for my money back. They promptly credited my card and let me go.

I really wanted to like Lunar, but it was much to frustrating experiencing so many down periods in such a short amount of time. I’m now with HostGator and my load times improved significantly and setup was a breeze, outside of longer delay of getting my DNS servers pointed in the right direction. Obviously the tail end of my blog posts on Word Press Plugins have been delayed, but I’ll be compiling them tomorrow for hopefully a release tomorrow.

    finding good hosts is much tougher than it should be. I’ve used quite a few and am currently very satisfied with MediaTemple.net’s DV server. that’s more than one would need for an individual site, but I host quite a few so it’s justified for me.

    So far so good with HostGator. I’m already seeing much faster response time with them, and you can easily chat with one of their reps online at anytime.

    There cheapest package is pretty limited as to what you get, but it’s still way worth being up then getting all of the pretty options.

    I too made a move recently. I shortlisted lunar pages and bluehost and finally selected bluehost.

    So far so good Shiv, the speed is next to none. Far and away the fastest host I’ve ever had. Please be sure to check a lot of their good reviews. I originally discovered them in the Digitalpoint forums. If you do decide to go with them, you can use my referral link at the right and I’ll give a couple coupon codes.

    @Shiv

    Two weeks in and I have yet to see ANY downtime(knock on wood)with HostGator. I’m going to HIGHLY recommend them at this point.

    That’s good. I may conisder this hosting when I make a switch. Do they offer Cpanel?

    Yeah, they do offer a lot, including cPanel. I never did get my gmail account working with Gator, but I created my own listikal.com account and configured a POP server. So it all worked out the same.
