Merry X-Mas - A Couple Videos to Put a Smile on Your Face

Imagine all the people living life in peace.
You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.
I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will live as one.

Transformers Trailer

Ok, so I may add Movies to my list of blog items. Why you ask? Because I can’t help the fact that I want to show everyone the new Transformers trailer. If you grew up in the 80s and enjoyed cartoons, you’ll probably be going to see this movie. My only wish would have been that a Cameron or a Spielberg, but they probably know what kind of hype and expectations this movie is going to expect, so we’ll have to setlle for a Michael Bay. Michael Bay’s only decent movie he ever directed was “The Island” and that was hardly a great movie. (Some would argue for “The Rock” as well)

Here’s a list of ratings from Bay’s best movies (Source: IMDB)

  • The Island - 6.9
  • Bad Boys II - 6.1
  • Pearl Harbor - 5.3
  • Armageddon - 5.7
  • The Rock - 7.1
  • Bad Boys - 6.4
  • Oh well, in a perfect world, Cameron or Spielberg would direct every Sci-Fi movie, but maybe Bay can finally pull something off. No matter what the case, I’m going to see it.

Lists, Lists and More Lists…From Blogging to Freeware, Firefox to Wi-Fi…

When I set out on Listikal.com, I was planning on providing an endless amount of tech tool collections, top 10 lists and essentially anything that might possibly be into some type of list. Upon evaluating a few sites, I soon discovered, I wasn’t going to get much traffic with this as my one and only objective. Instead I’ve revamped it into all out Tech blog with hopefully it’s own unique twist.

Now, I’ve stumbled upon one site who appears to be dedicating it’s site to what I was attempting to accomplish, providing a list for each and every item in this world imaginable. EConsulant is just that site, and here is just a taste of some of there more popular pages:

  • I want a Freeware Utility to … 450+ common problems solved
  • del.icio.us A-to-Z by Functions : All 150+ hacks/links/tools
  • Web 2.0 Directory : 1200+ Web 2.0 Sites in 50+ categories
  • Layout-palooza : Top CSS Layout Download Sites, Hacks, Galleries and Tricks
  • I want a Firefox Extension to …200+ extremely useful Firefox extensions
  • 106 Blog Services
  • This is just a taste of what seems an infinite amount of items contained on their website. Get ready to spend a good hour or two there. www.econsultant.com

Excellent New Wordpress Plugin for that Excellent New Image Affect, brought to you by Lightbox

The new release of Digg yesterday brought upon many changes but the most significant in my mind was what they had done to the video section. Not only did give Videos their own section, but they’ve implemented an absolutely amazing affect using some mod of Lightbox to play the videos right on the site. Don’t ask ME how to do it, but if somebody else knows how, I’d be pleased to find out. I think this affect alone could doom embedded video on blogs or sites, but I’ll be writing about that later in the week.

However, my main objective was to finally get Lightbox working again on my blog with images, using the WP lightbox JS WordPress Plugin. At the time I first discovered this plugin, I’ve had nothing but problems with it, and although when it worked, it worked as advertised, most of the time it was theme dependent.

Now, thanks to Everton over at ConnectedInternet he’s pointed out another option brought to you by m3nt0rs…called Lightbox 2.02 Plugin. All that it takes is a simple implementation of a thumbnail or link like this:

    Digg.com…How far they’ve come…December 18th, 2004 vs. December 18th, 2006

There has been a lot of buzz today surrounding the dramatic makeover release of Digg.com today. It didn’t look like a new feature set, it looked like a Digg 4.0 just a few months after Digg 3.0. The Video and Podcast section, the Top 10 stories, the finally improved search function, the expandable screen size and impressive new menu layout.

Instead of critiquing each and every nuance of the impressive new features of Digg, as every other blog has done, I’ve decided take a look back at just how far they’ve come with a few simple screenshots.
