Google and YouTube Account Become ONE

Good news for users of the hoards of Google applications out there. Your Google sign-on is now a single sign-on for YouTube as well. Just one more service you don’t have to remember your username and password for. Fortunately all previous YouTube accounts remain intact, and you still have the ability to remove the YouTube/Google if you so desire.

We are finally beginning to see some of the early bonuses of the Google/YouTube combo.

The Power Of StumbleUpon

While regularly checking my stats during the morning yesterday, I was surprised to see a major hit parade from our friends over at StumbleUpon. Right then, I was reminded once again how powerful social networking is, when you can come up with a few unique posts. The problem is, it wasn’t unique, it was “The Complete RSS Tool Collection“, and it was in reference to Mashable’s incredibly thorough list of all tools in relation to RSS and RSS subscriptions. Someone Stumbled this rather un-unique post, it got a few thumbs up and things rolled from there. Now it’s #2 on my “Top Read Posts Of The Week” that you recognize in my sidebar.

Opera Mini/Mobile 4 Beta Released - iPhone Like Web Browsing For The Rest Of Us

The world’s most popular mobile based web browser has released version 4 in beta form earlier today and it appears they are taking direct aim at the iPhone. Thoof Invites - News With Artificial Intelligence

I caught this new personalized news service on TechCrunch the other day and thought I would give it a shot. Thoof is another personalized news service, similar to Digg, Reddit or Netscape, but with a twist. It has a special AI feature that can identify the stories you are reading through your own history, and then only display the ones that you may be interested in. Hints from Kevin Rose indicate that Digg has similar features on the horizon, but until then, Thoof does have some unique features that will definitely keep me reading for the time being.

It appears as though Thoof is relying much on the user for story submission and tagging, but instead of using some type of plus/minus button for hyping the story up, It simply depends on if a user clicks on it or not.

So, if you are interested in checking out Thoof, just post a comment asking for an invite and I’ll shoot you one as soon as I can. It doesn’t appear as though there is any limitation as to my number of invites, so I’ll send out as many as I can until then.
