Rid Of The Annoying “Restart Now” In Windows XP

I was browsing through various blogs, wathing some of my favorite shows from HBO, all the while being annoyed by the ever present:

I thought, there must a way to get rid of this annoying pop-up. Of course, unlike many of Windows annoyances, there is a quick and easy way to get rid of this repetive nagging.

While your small yellow shield is running in the system tray, you also have a process running called “wuauclt.exe”. You can easily kill this process via your task manager, but you’ll see it come back within a few minutes, so here is how to rid of this process permanently:

START>RUN>CMD> And type sc stop wuauserv

Nice tips. But, is it safe to turn it off? don’t the program crashing each other later?

Thank you!! This is extremely annoying. In fact I have put off installing updates because I knew this pop up would aggravate me for the rest of the night. I starred this post in
Google Reader. Now I just have to remember it is there.

    Take care.

Yes, that’s always a risk, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take because this pop-up annoys me so much.

All those annoyances made run away from Windows so I’m using Linux. It’s far from perfection but it’s a lot more reliable than Windows and have less annoyances.
